Should you choose to keep your child home on Friday, April
25th for the Day of Silence, here are a few things to keep
in mind –
1) Be sure that the school is observing the Day of Silence
and is allowing students to remain silent throughout the
day. Many school officials will say that they are not “sponsoring”
the event but by allowing students to remain silent, they
are most certainly allowing the event to occur which will
disrupt the learning experience for all
students during the day.
2) Be sure of the date that the Day of Silence is planned
for the school. The national date is Friday, April 25th
but some schools may choose to do it on another date.
3) Inform the school principal and your child’s teachers
of your intention to keep your son or daughter home on that
date and explain why. Click
here for a sample letter we found from the American Family
Association. Don’t just call in to say your child is
sick. You have every right to protest this politicization
of our schools by gay & lesbian activist organizations.
